Operation Goat Rescue:

In late August, one of the directors at Gypsy Cats received an email from a concerned animal lover who became aware of a baby goat that was being housed in a suburban back yard with inadequate shelter, improper food and water, and very little care and supervision. This initial email started a chain reaction email that went out to all of Gypsy Cats contacts in hope of finding a suitable home for this abused baby goat.

Homer, heading for his new home.

A family in Wisconsin stepped forward wishing to adopt the baby and take him to their farm where he could live and be cared for along with their other goat, mule, chickens, and dogs. The current owners, who had named their pet "Psycho" the goat, were reluctant to surrender the goat at first. The agreement to surrender the goat took several phone conversations and was finally accomplished after the owners received a violations notice from their village. They quickly decided to part with their pet and give him to someone who would properly care for him. "Homer" made a safe 3-hour journey to his new home and was immediately seen by the new owner's veterinarian.

A very thin Homer, unsure what to do with actual goat food.

Homer was suffering from malnutrition - he was only fed timothy hay and Cheerios, and whatever he could find in the yard. The good news is that he grew stronger every day with proper care, feeding, fresh water, and lots of love by his new family.
